National Philatelic Week '2001

Bangladesh National Philatelic Association organized National Philatelic Week '2001 during 6^th to 12^th November 2001.This was the sixth such week arranged by the association. The annual philatelic exhibition of Bangladesh National Philatelic Association, titled "Philex-2001".It was a non competitive exhibition exclusively on Bangladeshi philatelic items. Every section of Bangladeshi philatelic items i.e. stamps, FDCs, Special cancellers, Postal stationeries, errors and varieties, provisional issues, essays and proofs, fiscals, phone cards etc, were exhibited by invited philatelists. The exhibition was held in the auditorium of Dhaka G.P.O. Bangladesh Post Office issued a special cover and seven special cancellers, one for each day to mark the occasion. A raffle draw was held among the visitors and participants. The programs of the week included:

The inaugural ceremony was held in Dhaka G.P.O. Committee room. Hon’ble Director General of Bangladesh Post Office Mr. Saiful Huda was present as chief guest and inaugurated the weeklong program and also formally released the special cover and the canceller for that day.

The main attraction of the day was a grand philatelic auction was arranged in Dhaka G.P.O. committee room. A large quantity of stamps, F.D.Cs, postal stationery and other philatelic items were put on sale at reasonable price. A large number of stamp collectors and dealers were present at the daylong auction. That was the 154^th auction of Bangladesh National Philatelic Association.

The program of the day included a lively discussion between young and senior philatelists about the exhibits. They exchanged views about various aspects of Bangladesh philately and different items on display.

The main event of the day was a daylong tour, arranged for the delegates of the week, to different places of philatelic interest in Dhaka city. Visit was arranged to the "Memorial of Sepoy Mutiny of 1857", " Ahsan Manjil", "Lalbag Fort" and "Star Mosque". All these places have been depicted in different issue of Bangladesh Post Office.

Along with other program, a discussion meeting was held on "Thematic Philately". Mannan Mashhur Jerif presented the key note paper while senior philatelists Mr. M.A.Salam (B.Com.) and Dr. Kazi Shariful Alam took part in the discussion.

The program of the day included a workshop on philately. A good number of young and enthusiastic collectors took part in the workshop where they were taught about different technical aspects of stamp collecting with practical demonstration.

The award giving ceremony of the "Philex-2001" was arranged at the committee room of Dhaka G.P.O. President of Bangladesh Philatelic Federation, Dr. Kazi Shariful Alam distributed certificate of participation among the participants. Prizes were distributed among the winners of the raffle draw of the week.

MONTHLY PHILATELIC AUCTIONS OF B.N.P.A.

Bangladesh National Philatelic Association arranged their monthly philatelic auctions on first Friday of every month. A large quantity of Stamps, F.D.Cs. Postal Stationeries and other philatelic items were put on sale. A good number of philatelists attended every auction.

NEWLY FORMED EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF BNPA

An executive meeting of Bangladesh National Philatelic Association was held on 1^st January 2003. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Kazi Shariful Alam. The outgoing executive committee declared the names of the new office bearers of the association. The members of the new executive committee are:
